The left-bank approach to the bridge crossing over the Lena River incorporates four piers. One of them, pier #4, was erected last year, and recently, construction workers began reinforcing the grillage of another bank pier. All preparatory work has been completed: the sheet pile foundation has been installed, and the heads of 21 bored piles that form part of the pier's foundation, have been cut. The construction of pier #5, which is 24 meters high and 4 meters in diameter, will require over 66 contour blocks and 689 m³ of concrete. Meanwhile, construction workers are carrying out preparatory work for the next pier – pier #6.
The project calls for a total of 26 bridge piers, including three channel piers. Each pier is a massive engineering structure. Their construction will require a total of 920 piles and nearly 50,000 m3 of concrete, supplied by the company's all-season plants located at service sites on both banks. Active drilling is underway on the right bank, where over 100 piles have already been concreted. Drilling rigs are working on several piers simultaneously.
In total, VIS Group is currently engaging 460 people and approximately 100 units of specialized equipment in the construction of the Lena Bridge at four different service sites. In anticipation of the spring flood, a protective berm is being installed on the left bank, and the installation of sheet piles and pipes for the temporary pier has been completed. A mooring slip, required for the approach of vessels from the engaged fleet and the loading of machinery, equipment, and materials, is being constructed on the right bank and the construction sites of supports #11-12 are being filled.
The construction of the Lena Bridge was made possible by a concession agreement and the attraction of extra-budgetary funds. VIS Group is the investor, concessionaire, and general contractor for the construction project, the Government of Yakutia is the concession grantor, and the financial partner is Sber. All work is being carried out under the constant supervision of the concession participants, as well as designers and experts from ROSDORNII, a leading research institute in the road sector.
